Biography

You may be finding yourself struggling to tolerate distress, regulate emotions, or be effective in your relationships. In your life, this may look like difficulty identifying and expressing emotions, experiencing suicidal ideation, engaging in self-harm, being unable to maintain relationships, having poor or intrusive boundaries, struggling with impulse control, overeating or restricting food intake, emotionally withdrawing and isolating from others, having low self-esteem, preoccupation with body image, having anger outbursts, or experiencing regular panic attacks.

As a therapist, I commit to non-judgementally accepting you for where you are at and providing resources and support to help you facilitate changes in your life that you yearn for. I completed my master’s program in social work at Idaho State University. I have experience working with adolescent and their families in a residential treatment setting. I have worked at a child advocacy center working with children of all ages who have been sexually abused. I have found that I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and parents. I also provide LGBTQ affirmative care. Nichole Rammell, LCSW is my supervisor at Sunrise Mental Health Services.

As a dialectical behavior certified therapist (DBT), I want to help you understand why you do the things that you do and help you meet your needs in more effective ways through the use of skills. In balancing acceptance and change we will also utilize your strengths to empower you to overcome unhelpful behaviors and decrease unpleasant symptoms that interfere with your ability to live the life you want. I believe in you and I hope to work with you!

I am originally from Boise, Idaho and I have also lived in Florida, New Mexico, and now Utah. I became a therapist because I have had therapists of my own who have helped me overcome many challenges and it has impacted my life positively. I want to offer that same support to my clients. In my free time, I enjoy snuggling with my two dogs, watching documentaries with my partner, and eating good food.
